Is your ex getting married?

What would you do if you ex-boyfriend is getting married?

He broke your heart and left you devastated, heartwrecked and despicable?

So you found out from him that he is getting married to a girl that has barely been in a relationship with him for ONE YEAR!

And you had spent the last five years (or more) out of your life trying to get over him.

You became a serial killer dater, then dumping almost every man who had found you suitable to be their perfect choice of bride. Trying to search for the definition of love that you felt when you were with the b-stard. Fearing the thought of being in a commited relationship.

I know, you think why the hell I made all this difficult for myself? Move on, and get it on!

I tried.

But I could not.

I was bitter. And in my mind, there is always the thought of what was it that I did wrong.

So many questions and too many answers.

But thank God I am so over him now. I will not do anything. I was just jealous that he is the one getting married first instead of me.

And life certainly has its way of layering its path over you.

What is it really that motivates you?

Every morning when I wake up, these are some of the thoughts that are always running in my mind; What is my purpose today? What is in my agenda for the day?

So I would structurize the thoughts and composed a series of To Do Lists for me on every particular day.

More often that not, I would usually end up not completing the To Do Lists and instead carried with me home a new To Do List for the next day.

I wonder what is it that I have lost over the years, this special factor that keeps me focused and motivated to my goals.

Some of the reasons, as I have recognized, are because I am doing the things I do for someone else´s satisfaction. I do the things I do because I like to please OTHER PEOPLE. I do the things I do because I love to see the smiles on the faces of people I love, and listen to their appraising words. But these reasons do not motivate me all the way. And I lose focus on why I should continue with what I am doing.

I always forget to remind myself, that I am doing what I am doing FOR MYSELF.

The surprising truth about what motivates us.

I hope this link would be useful for you.

The reason why we are really motivated is actually self satisfaction.

And I need to plant this thought in my head, for me to be able to strike and achieve all the goals I have wanted to accomplish.

Selamat Hari Raya, Eid Mubarak.

On the occasion of this special month, I'd like to wish everyone a great time in your life. I pray that Allah will grant our wishes, providing that we will work very hard to achieve it (if we're ambitious), otherwise you can wish for something small, and work small, and obviously the result will be small as well.

I'd like to wish for us to be His most loyal believers and for that we will always be happy and blessed by Him under whichever situation we are in. Be true to yourself and treat others with kindness. Happiness comes from within and this is an exercise that you must practice in order to achieve it.

This is my first year celebrating spending the month of Ramadan and Syawal without my family's presence. It feels very strange. I could vividly see my family breaking their fast every evening. The times when they rush out to buy food from Bazaar Ramadan for the whole family. When after iftar, Dad would summon for us to go to the masjid and before going out, we will perform Maghrib prayer together at home. In my mind, I could see my brothers performing their ablutions. And in our room upstairs, my sisters putting on their praying gown. Mom would already be sitting down on the praying mat, reciting surah Yaasin or maybe some other verses from the Quran.

Alhamdulillah, I haven't really had the chance to celebrate the first day of Syawal, but I had the opportunity to spend some hours during an open house with fellow Indonesians and Singaporeans residing in Sweden and they're very friendly towards me. I felt instantly at home when I entered the house of Mbak Lala and Pak Mat.

And next week it will be the meeting with Malaysian ambassador at Malaysian embassy in Stockholm. Also going to be my first time in Stockholm. I'm super excited! I'm planning to give my business card to the ambassador :-)

I remember the day when I left Kuala Lumpur.

I had a mixed feeling of emotions, first of all because I was very excited to live in a new country. I have never
lived abroad before in my life. My dream of studying in another country was not established as I did not work
towards the dream so much. And was accepted to a local university, so back then that was enough for me.

Everyone else around me was always telling me of how sad they are that I am leaving, that they don't know when they're ever going to see me again, if they are going to see me again, ever. I didn't get this. I mean, in my mind, I know that I am coming back to Malaysia again. I will get a job to support myself and buy flight tickets back to Kuala Lumpur, maybe twice in a year, if I could afford that.

‘My Biggest Mistake as a Rookie Manager’

If the mistakes you’ve made as a rookie manager make you cringe, you’re not alone. Many people struggle with the transition to overseeing their colleagues — and they usually don’t get much help from their employers. Last year the Institute for Corporate Productivity surveyed hundreds of employees to determine how well their companies helped people make the switch to management. The results were dismal: More than 60 percent rated their firm’s performance as “fair;” 16 percent said it was “poor.”

So that leaves managers to learn from their mistakes, which is, of course, often the best way to improve. Here, five seasoned managers tell us in their own words some of their most painful lessons as newbies.

My mistake: I let an employee intimidate me.

When I first started managing in 1994, I oversaw a salesperson who was old enough to be my mom. She knew her job, but sometimes she chose not to do it. Some months she would make her sales goals, some months, she wouldn’t. As a new manager, I was hesitant to give her direction and intimidated by her age. When other people started mentioning that she was coming in late and taking personal phone calls at work, I made a serious mistake. I told her that other people were complaining about her, instead of reporting my own observations. She said, ‘Well, I do my job.’ Worried about her feelings, I said, ‘Yeah, OK.’ I should have said, ‘You may think you’re doing your job, but the business results show that you’re not.’ I lived with her uneven performance, even though it was stressful, and she stayed on after I left.

Now if I have a problem like that, I take immediate corrective action, instead of losing sleep over it. When I managed an administrative worker who consistently called in sick about three times a week, saying her stomach hurt, I was sympathetic for a short time. But I quickly realized what she was up to and insisted she seek medical attention. When she didn’t do that, I gave her 10 days to straighten up. After three weeks of perfect attendance, she called in sick again. I told her not to bother coming in. She showed up that afternoon and we never had a problem with her attendance again.

14. Jangan pernah mengucapkan selamat tinggal jika kamu masih mau mencoba, jangan pernah menyerah jika kamu masih merasa sanggup, jangan pernah mengatakan kamu tidak mencintainya lagi jika kamu masih tidak dapat melupakannya.

Finding the right goal.

Before I actually reached Sweden I have always thought that I would successfully find a job and secure myself financially enabling me to satisfy my financial call anytime I want. Plus I received a call from a company in Sweden, just a couple of days before I leave Kuala Lumpur. This strenghten my belief that I am able to secure a job as soon as I settle down in the land of Scandinavia.

But the moment I stepped out from the job interview in Damco last January, I knew for sure that I would not be getting the job. First of all, I did really bad during the interview; bad posture, passive communication, no eye contacts, out of focus; it was just so terrible that I felt ashamed of having gone through it! The night before the interview I felt that I was ready for anything hence I did not prepare myself for much. It was only during the interview that I lost my self confidence, for a really nonsense cause!

This is a great start.

Have you ever thought that nothing in this world is impossible? Then you are just like me. Or perhaps in other word, I am just like the rest of you out there.

For a start, I never have imagined that one day I would be living in Europe. Yet now, here I am, typing from my room in Sweden and wondering how life have made me ended up here. My best friends know the real reason why I am actually living in Sweden now. In time, let's hope that all of us out there gets to be with the ones we love and cherish all the moments that you are with each other. Until then, you are to enjoy each and every word that I type in to this blog page :)
