With an ordbok in my hand, and farmor Siv holding Ajja in her röd jacka by the leash, we took a walk around the neighborhood and I learned a new word that I am sure I will not forget easily after that day.

There were piles of snow, and the streets sometimes slippery from being icy and marks from car tyres having run on them countless times.

Trees were covered in white snow, so as there fields that in the summer there would be cows roaming on them, feeding on the grass. And though there is no sun, the sky is clear, making the day colder than usual.

Ajja is enjoying her chance to be free in the nature, and she is skipping happily here and there, stopping
occasionally to sniff what could be possible threat in her territory. And after reclaiming her territory, she sniffs once again to confirm herself and trots off to find another spot.

Siv speaks in Swedish and from her intonation and my little Swedish vocabulary, I picked up what she wants to tell me. I will not deny that I am still astonished with our achievement in understanding each other. And I am awed with Siv's effort to communicate with me.
